About Founder and director, Brett Walter

Brett's journey with God is an example of the promise from Jesus “if you seek you will find”. Brett wasn’t sure if God was real, so he committed to reading three chapters a day every day in the Bible until he had finished. After he had read through the entire Bible 3 times, he came to believe and finally gave his life to the Lord. He still has a deep appetite to spend time in the Word of God every morning. In the last few years, the Lord has inspired him to memorize and now teach the Sermon on the Mount, one of his favorite passages of Scripture. Brett also has a deep passion to encourage others to read the Word of God and spend time with Him on a daily basis. This is the reason that he began the 40 Day Bible Journey.
Brett began Outreach Sports 19 years ago after a 40 day period of purposefully seeking God's will on how to best serve Him in ministry. After this focused time of prayer and seeking after God's will, Brett believed God was leading him to show people how he had accidentally been doing sports ministry for the past several years. Outreach Sports immediately began hosting sporting events that focused on outreach and encouraged people to be prayerful and invite a friend or neighbor that they care about that might not ever come to church but might come to a sports ministry event. It was at these events that people would experience and hear about the love of God and hopefully grow deeper in their relationship with Jesus Christ, while also being connected to a church body where they could continue to grow in their relationship with God. Along the way, Brett has learned much about sports ministry and how to share the Good News of Jesus Christ through sports.
The Lord has now shifted the focus of Outreach Sports from hosting events to training churches and sports ministry ambassadors on the 3 steps of mobilizing their people to do The Great Commission through sports. This training is centered in Sports Evangelism Training which includes providing churches and sports ministry ambassadors the steps to an effective sports ministry that mobilizes adults and youth to "Go!" and reach their community and loved ones for Christ through sports!
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20 NIV
